Is Maintenance Care Worth It? Once a patient’s low back pain has resolved, doctors of chiropractic often recommend they return for treatment on an ongoing basis to reduce the risk for a future episode of back pain. In a recent study involving 252 patients who experienced a resolution of their low back pain following a course of chiropractic care, researchers observed that those who continued to receive chiropractic adjustments once every one-to-three months experienced 30 fewer days with back pain over the following year than patients who did not continue with such treatments.
